Category: the Balm

Hi all ^___^

Oohhhh, it’s a month of beauty box all over in Indonesia. Beauty enthusiast is racing to be the first who grabbed these boxes, no wonder almost all of them is sold out within the first week of announcing. And I’m lucky enough to be invited by LolaBox on their first beauty box!

-*-

As someone who wants to be the first to try on new cosmetics on the block and realizing it is NOT an easy task to be able to gather all the products out there in the same time with all the events, invitations and writings to do in the same time, these boxes may come in handy. It is impossible to buy everything in the market, especially when all I want is a first bite without digesting the whole pie.

-*-

Here are all the first bites I get from LolaBox April 2013 edition. From makeup to skincare and perfume is here. Gift certificate and makeup lessons from NYX, Taman Sari Spa, etc. The products inside the box consist of:

Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel
Sebamed Clear Face Deep Cleansing Facial Toner
Sebamed Clear Face Cleansing Bar
Orlane Extreme Line Reducing Lip Care
Be 21 EDP By Orlane (7,5 ml)
Orlane Anagenese 25+ First Time Fighting Care
Orlane Anagenese 25+ First Time Fighting Care Eye Contour
Platinum Ristra Longlasting Lipstick Chic Lavender
from Taman Sari Royal Heritage ( Murut Bodyscrub, Cocoa Series Body Scrub, Papaya Enzyme Series Body Scrub, and Green Coconut Series Conditioner.

Some like the lipsticks and Sebamed may be used several times while some are so tiny and comes in a sample sizes, I think it’s really is first bite (as in just one bite).

-*-

This is the box, as seen above, it can be used as makeup box, present box, or storage box for other stuffs. Simple yet pretty.

The whole box when opened smells like a spa thanks to Scentsibility.

Now, here are the reviews and some first glance try out in using the products given.

-*-

Orlane Extreme Line Reducing Care can be used immediately and give instant result as well. The lines on my lips are filled out in a jiffy without those sticky feeling like most lip balm do. I love this product and I think I want to have the full size of it. Product like this is considered brilliant and suitable to be in the box, since customer can try it and get instant result.

-*-

While others seems a bit too little for the customer to even see a changes made. But we can try the texture, scent or sensitivity caused on the skin. This is beneficial for those who have a rather delicate condition due to their allergic reaction.

The perfume reminds me a lot of a … tissue ^__^ the smell is really like perfumed tissue back in those days when I’m still in primary.

-*-

These are the close up view of the texture of Orlane skincare for the face and eye. Both are light and easy to use. Due to the size, I can only use them for 3-5 days.

-*-

Products from Taman Sari Royal Heritage. Customer may try and tested which scrub they prefer, I like the Papaya Enzyme best (the one with the orange color) since it smells good. But since they are so tiny the body scrub couldn’t even finish a leg. The conditioner is okay and quite pampering. The size is enough for short – medium length hair.

I wish they all come in bigger sizes ^__^ but I think the variety is relatively good as customers has ideas of this brand and can feel the spa ambiance it brings.

Inside the box, Lola also gives us a piece of paper which shown the prices of the products sold (in regular size).

-*-

The last item I’ve tried is Chic Lavender by Ristra. The lipstick is a bit moisturizing and easy to use, but the color appears different than what I expected a chic lavender would be. It looks like a normal pinkish red lipstick.

Overall,
LolaBox deliver the box to me on the day they say it would be.
All the products given are exactly the same as the one received by my friends
The box when received in in good condition, neat, and tidy.
I love the letter that comes in each box and the scent coming out from it.
I like the variety inside the box and the quantity as well.
I think LolaBox is suitable for beauty enthusiasts who want a nice surprise knocking on their door every month, consistently and dependable.

Thank you LolaBox, hopefully more products and more items can be delivered by you every month.

Balms Away

Hi babes,

this is one of the item promised to be reviewed after this post about dazzling Marilyn (HERE), the Balms Away, an eye makeup breakup.

That’s the product, a simple rounded jar, which reminds me a lot of a good old days where vintage is IN, and again, they are IN again now. Who could resists the sexy pin ups and curvy gals?!

Details from www.thebalm.com:

Easy to used and works really really well. I’ve tested it on one of my strongest, waterproof, water resistant, smudge proof, tear proof, sweat proof, rain or shine kinda mascara and eyeliners where other products usually admit defeat, clean minimum, or clean majority but left a few part still untouched.

Just use a bit and work between the fingers first and let them melt like butter . . . or petroleum jelly. Then close the eyes and gently massage the balm all through the lashes and careful not to insert the balm into the eyes.

Use a facial tissue, not cotton, as cotton will breaks apart and ended up picking up the fine threads of cotton to be more homework than actually helping.

Gently swipe the tissue over the breaking mascara and eyeliners, or any other waterproof makeup, and I can see darkness disappears. I use my foaming facial foam afterwards yet some still left there since the balm are so close to the eyeballs. But overnight (since usually I use Balms Away at night) it made my lashes feel so soft, delicate and lustrous. I think it’s a cleanser with skincare lash-care benefit as well.

Great product that help removes falsies glue as well.

Hello lovelies,

Indonesian Beauty Blogger March 2013 is officially started today ^__^

Created a look like a dazzling Marilyn and win prizes from The Balm, a cosmetic brand from San Fransisco which recently landed in Indonesia.

-*-

Some of the products used in this tutorial are courtesy of The Balm and will help me creating a look that hopefully as mesmerizing as Ms. Monroe herself.

-*-

Here are the three items, Balms Away, the eye makeup remover, Shady lady, an eye shadow with a whole lotta attitude, and Mary Lou Manizer, a highlighter / luminizer that want to get all the attention she can get.

I’ll share Balms Away review on a next post and two makeups here ^__^

-*-

It’s gonna be an exciting next post ^__–

-*-

Let’s start the step to step guide of me trying to create a glimpse of Marilyn’s iconic look.

Start with a bare face.

-*-

Boi-ing, an industrial strength concealer from Benefit to cover large pores, under eye, fine lines and other imperfection.

-*-

Shiseido Lifting Foundation shade I 00, by fingers, dot a few spots on 5 parts and blend away. Covering all the uneven skin tone and creating a base for the skin. Wait for a good 5 minutes before the next step, so the foundation have time to sets in.

-*-

Followed by a compact powder by Estee Lauder.

-*-

I use a foundation brush for CyberWhite EX Extra Brightening Powder Makeup. Make sure the skin is completely dry and the foundation has set before this powder or it will make some blotchy effect.

-*-

Then a Loose Powder from Teint Miracle series from Lancome, a very beautiful light powder that gives the skin a luminous effect with a mild glistening aura.

-*-

On some part Touche Eclat from Yves Saint Laurent is added, then blend with fingers.

-*-

Anna Sui Eyebrow Color Compact is used for my brow in shade 03. Simple, so easy to use and looks natural.

Don’t forget to tidy up the brows first.

-*-

I use a base for eyeshadow using Kate eye shadow in PU-1 inspired by this look from Marilyn,

-*-

She looks stunningly beautiful.

-*-

Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner for that cat eye look or at least a winged, but I need something more, the lashes.

-*-

D’Eyeko is used, and just happen to be the only lashes I have that able to create a very sexy cat eyed lashes.

Tips of using D’Eyeko that I get from Lizzie, use from the outer side to the inner, and it works!

-*-

A subtle touch of a Cheeky Glow, for that light blushing touch from Maybelline.

-*-

I need a shadow that really perk up the eyes and increase the effect of the sexy lashes, Shady Lady is here.

-*-

Comes in 10 gorgeous shades that’s bold and brave.

-*-

There’s some tiny sparkles, I see they have some shades that’s not available in other cosmetic brands and unique too.
The selling price is Rp.150.000.

-*-

Same goes with Mary Lou Manizer, which I think a must added collection to any beauty pouch. Rp.280.000.

I love this highlighter as it draw attention right through it and exactly where you want the attention to be. Easily blend and watch out, you may in for a spotlight \^0^/

-*-

Then, it’s the lips, I tried making them thin but decided to make it bold and so red and seductive,
Maybelline Red Porcelain, I love this lipstick, like a red leather just landed and rule.

-*-

No Marilyn look would be complete without that famous black dot, right below her left cheek.

-*-

Using the Hyper Sharp Liner again and voila!

I want to go all out with a blonde wig, but try imagining Marilyn in a brunette.

-*-

Using my Philips are a curler, a wave that says, hello, I’m here.

-*-

Get a help from L’Oreal Professionnel Bounce Whip.

-*-

Divide the hair section by section and tongs on! Change my clothes into something with vintage tag label, and I’m ready!

How do I look?
